Wayne Becker, 78, of Redwood Falls died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at University Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008 from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, followed by military honors. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 2, 2008, from 4 until 8 p.m., at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Wayne Oliver Becker, the son of Anton A. and Margaret E. (Stellmacher) Becker, was born December 18, 1929 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He grew up in North Redwood and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1947. Wayne worked for his father at Becker’s Gas Station in North Redwood until entering the U. S. Army in 1951 and serving his country in the Korean War.

On May 14, 1953 Wayne married Letha Larsen at Redwood Falls. They made their home in North Redwood where he took over Becker’s Gas Station in 1956, adding the bait shop to his operation in the early 1970’s.

Wayne owned and operated his own school bus, transporting and spoiling the kids of North Redwood for over 40 years. He held memberships in Pheasants Forever, Duck’s Unlimited and Turkey Federation. He was also a member of the local American Legion and V.F.W. posts.
Wayne enjoyed gardening, attending high school football and basketball games, and going deer hunting with his son and grandsons.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Letha Becker of North Redwood; son Steve Becker of North Redwood; daughter Lynn Gramentz of Redwood Falls; son Scott Becker and wife Brenda of North Redwood; grandsons Chris Becker and Deena of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Casey Becker and Kim House of Sioux Falls, and Chad Gramentz of Alexandria; and great grandson Noah Moon of Sioux Falls. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Margaret.
