Claire Freeburg was born September 14, 1947 to Claire Oscar Freeburg and Christina Marie (Sutherland) Freeburg. He lived in his parental home until moving to Cambridge State Hospital. Claire moved to Redwood Falls and became a resident at the Robert Milton Home on May 5, 1972. He moved into REM-South Central Services on August 21, 1989.
Claire began working at the Redwood County DAC on September 9, 1974 and was employed by the Redwood County DAC and later Service Enterprises, Inc. (SEI) his entire working life. He worked in the DAC Downtown store for a few years and then began working at the Redwood County Recycling Center. Claire was an employee at the recycling center until, for health reasons, he transferred to the main SEI building. He continued working at SEI until just shortly before his death.
Claire faithfully attended the Redwood Falls Assembly of God Church for years. He enjoyed playing his tambourine and dressing in his “Sunday-best” suit. Claire was a member of the DAC’s Korn Kob Korners Review. He enjoyed art and would spend hours drawing while he watched television. Claire enjoyed going out for coffee, and visits from family and friends. He was an outgoing guy who loved to give hugs.
Claire is survived by his brothers Bruce Freeburg and C.O. Freeburg; his sister Helen Erickson; his housemates James, Palmer and Alan; and scores of friends.
Blessed be his memory.
