Loree Swigart, 78, of Redwood Falls died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Redwood Area Hospital, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008 from Cornerstone Christian Church in Redwood Falls with burial in Crestlawn Gardens, rural Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008, from 4 until 8 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and will continue on Thursday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Loree Marcella Swigart, the daughter of Harold and Delma (Bonderman) Harkin was born February 21, 1930 in Watertown, South Dakota. The family moved to Rowena, Minnesota in 1937 and to Morgan in 1945. Loree graduated from Morgan High School in 1948.
On September 30, 1950, Loree married Russell Swigart at the Methodist Parsonage in Redwood Falls. The couple lived in Redwood Falls for a short time, then relocated to Georgia – where Russell was serving in the Army - for a year. In 1952 they moved to rural Springfield where they lived until moving to rural Clements in 1956. In 1966 they moved to their farm in Paxton Township, Redwood County, where they have resided since.
Loree was a bookkeeper at the Redwood Falls Co-op Elevator and then a farm homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and traveling. Loree was an avid reader and loved spending time visiting and playing games with her grandchildren. She was also an angel collector. Loree attended Cornerstone Christian Church in Redwood Falls. Loree and Russell were active members in the New Ulm Gem and Mineral Club.
She is survived by her husband Russell of Redwood Falls; daughter Debra (Loran) Kaardal of Redwood Falls; son Dean Swigart of Redwood Falls; son Ronald Swigart of Fridley; daughter Pauline (Bruce) Collova of Redwood Falls; and son Jim (Pam) Swigart of Gowen, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Dixon (Lorraine) Harkin of Sleepy Eye; and sister Lenice (Gene) Jensen of Cresco, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Jack Harkin.
