Rose A. Ricke

Rose A. Ricke, 103, of Morgan died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008 from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15, 2008, from 4 until 8 p.m., with a combined CCW and Parish Rosary at 7 p.m., all at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church for one hour prior to services.
The Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.

Rose Ann (Zweber) Wilhelmi Ricke, the daughter of John P. and Mary Zweber, was born January 1, 1905 in New Market. She attended St. Nicholas school in New Market, Scott County.

On November 30, 1922, Rose married Jerome Wilhelmi in St. Nicholas Church in New Market. Three sons were born to the couple. Jerome died in 1929.

On February 8, 1932, Rose married Louie Ricke in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in New Market. One daughter was born to Rose and Louie. The family moved to Morgan in May 1935. Rose helped with field work and raised chickens. She liked to crochet and do other handiwork. Rose and Louie enjoyed going fishing and loved to dance. Rose also enjoyed gardening and raising strawberries and especially enjoyed having her grandchildren come to visit. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the CCW.

Rose and Louie retired from farming in 1968 and moved into Morgan in 1972.

Rose is survived by her sons LeRoy (Marcella) of Morgan, and Paul (Lucille) of Sleepy Eye. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jerome; her second husband Louie in April 2001; her son Francis; her daughter Patricia; five brothers and four sisters.
