R. Gordon “Gordy” Valle, 86, of Redwood Falls died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008 from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. A private burial service will be held prior to the visitation and memorial service.

Ralph Gordon Valle, the son of Theodore A. Valle and Ricka E. (Prehn) Valle, was born August 31, 1921 in Brandt, South Dakota. He grew up in the Brandt, S.D. and Canby, Minnesota areas and graduated from Canby High School in 1939. Gordy continued his education, concentrating in the area of business administration. At that time, he was also employed by the Northland Greyhound Company in Minneapolis. From 1942 until 1945, Gordy served as an electrician’s mate in the United States Navy.
On March 31, 1953, Gordy married Barbara A. Charlsen at Stillwater and the couple settled in Redwood Falls where Gordy worked for Falls Implement. He then became the deputy city clerk-treasurer for the City of Redwood Falls, a position he held until his retirement in October 1986. Gordy was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the Masons, Lions Club, American Legion and VFW. He was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and Share the Spirit.
Gordy is survived by his daughter Linda (Ed) Caillier of Vadnais Heights; his grandson Aaron Caillier (fiancé Kimberly Knox) and great-grandson Hunter Caillier all of Lutz, Florida; daughter Jane Valle of Bemidji; and brother Robert Valle of Golden Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara in October 2002; brothers Howard and Preston; and sister Eunice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice.
