Clint will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen Jones Weltsch of Redwood Falls; sons Tom (Donna) of Crystal, and Richard (Joyce) of Redwood Falls; daughter Mary (David) Daniel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren Chris (Meghan) and Lindsey Daniel, Ryan and Anna Weltsch; and great-granddaughters Sofia Daniel and Addison Thomes.
The third of seven children, Clint is preceded in death by brothers Clifford and Michael, and sister Lucile Schmidt. He is survived by sisters Shirley (Ken) Hakes of Aitkin, MN and Patty (Glen) Iverson of Sacramento, CA; brother George (Carol) Weltsch of Cambridge, MN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Clint was born at home in Lafayette on January 18, 1927. After graduating from high school and serving in the Marines during World War II, he married Kathleen and helped raise three children. Clint worked in sales and service for Roy Jones Implement in Lake Crystal. In 1960 he was employed by Allis Chalmers as district manager and moved his family to Aberdeen, S.D. They relocated to Redwood Falls in 1965, where Clint’s life work involved building a successful farm equipment business – Weltsch Equipment.
Time spent with his siblings and their families was precious to him. Clint also enjoyed feeding the birds in his yard and tinkering in his workshop. He was a generous, old-fashioned gentleman, an avid reader of history, a skilled blueberry pancake maker, a devoted Minnesota Viking fan, an outdoorsman, and an unstoppable cribbage player. He and Kathleen enjoyed good friends in Redwood Falls, Minnesota and in Destin, Florida where they wintered on the white sandy beaches for many years. Clint was active in community organizations over the years, including the Shriners, Masons, VFW and American Legion. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls where he served as a deacon.
Clint’s passing saddens our family and he will be sorely missed. But we also rejoice in knowing he is in the everlasting arms of the God he lovingly served.
