Michael “Boz” Balsley, 54, of Redwood Falls died Friday, July 18, 2008 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, after battling long-term illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 from the Nelson-Martin Funeral Chapel in Redwood Falls with burial of cremains in the Morton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008, from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael LeRoy Balsley, the son of Earl and Lorene (Blom) Balsley, was born September 25, 1953 in Fairmont. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Michael grew up and received his early education in Fairmont. In 1968, Michael moved with his family to Morton. He graduated from Morton High School in 1973. Michael entered the United States Marine Corp in 1973 and served until 1975. Following his discharge, Michael returned to the Redwood Falls area where he did carpentry work with his father. He liked to watch westerns and visit with friends. Michael enjoyed the outdoors and especially the change of colors in the fall. He also enjoyed camping, cooking and grilling.

Michael is survived by his soulmate, Mary Balsley of Redwood Falls and her sons Zack and Jac. Also surviving are his father Earl Balsley of Morton; sisters Debra Balsley and her companion Roger Degner of Morton, Paulette (Wayne) Thompson of Morton, and Dawn (Dean) Maertens of Morton; his brother Kevin (Michelle) Balsley of Farmington; seven nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Lorene Balsley; and his brother Corwin.
